Coastal Districts Of Odisha May Experience Heavy Spells Of Rain Again; Check IMD Forecast

Bhubaneswar: While a few places in Odisha are likely to experience light to moderate showers during the next few days, the intensity of rain with heavy spells will again resume from September 27, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.

According to the midday bulletin, yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning has been sounded for one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal and Kandhamal till 8.30 am on September 24. Light to moderate rain/thundershower is also likely to occur at a few places in the state during this period.

There is no weather warning for the next three days while light to moderate rain will continue in a few districts of the state.

On September 27, yellow warning for heavy rain has been issued for one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal and Puri and there will be little change in the weather condition in the subsequent two days, it said.

According to ‘North Indian Ocean Extended Range Outlook for Cyclogenesis’ issued by the IMD, two cyclonic circulations are likely to form over the Bay of Bengal within the next 13 days. “The guidance from various numerical models including IMD GFS, GEFS, ECMWF, NCUM, NEPS, NCEP GFS does not indicate any cyclogenesis over the North Indian Ocean during the next two weeks. However, these models show the likely formation of a cyclonic circulation over the north Bay of Bengal during the middle of week 1 (September 23 to 29) and another over the central Bay of Bengal during the middle of week 2 (September 30 to October 6),” it added.
