Cold Wave To Return To Odisha In Next 48 Hours: IMD
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said most parts of Odisha will experience cold wave condition in next 48 hours.
The national weather agency, in an evening bulletin, said there is a gradual increase in the night temperature in the state for more than a week due to the obstruction of the north-westerly wind under the influence of a high-pressure area over Uttar Pradesh. As the high pressure has started drifting towards Maharashtra, there will be intense cold wave in North India in next 24 hours.
It also said the cold wave will return to Odisha from January 12 with a sharp fall in the night temperature by 3-5 degree Celsius. While the night temperature in the interior, south, west and central Odisha will fall by about 5 degree, the north and south coastal districts will experience the cold wave from January 11.
The IMD further said there will be a fall in the day temperature in Bhubaneswar, Rourkela and Balangir by 2, 3 and 4 degree Celsius respectively by January 13.
“The cold wave condition in the state will prevail till January 16 and there will be a gradual rise in the day and night temperature from January 17,” it said adding that there will be dense fog at one or two places in the coastal belt between January 13 and 15.
