Contentious Laws: Govt Invites Farmers For 6th Round Of Talks On Dec 30

New Delhi: The Union government has invited farmers’ unions for sixth round of talks on the contentious agricultural laws at 2 pm on December 30, at Vigyan Bhawan.

Two days ago, a joint front of 40 farmer organizations had written to the Ministry of Agriculture proposing December 29 as the date for next meeting.

Replying to the farmers’ letter, the agriculture ministry reiterated that the government is committed to finding a logical solution on all relevant issues.

Farmers’ leader Rakesh Tikait, however, had a word of advice for the government.

“Today is 33rd day of the protest. If the government doesn’t listen, then we will use Formula 66, which means we will continue the agitation for double the days,” he said on Monday.

“Talks will be on repealing of three farm laws and implementation of Swaminathan committee report,” he made it clear.

Union Home minister Amit Shah had a meeting with Railways minister Piyush Goyal to discuss the government’s strategy ahead of meeting farmers.
