Bhubaneswar: Prompt action by the Emergency Response Support System (112) and the Police Control Room (PCR) team of Bhubaneswar saved the life of a youth after he was allegedly pushed from a moving train near the Mancheswar area on Thursday night.
According to sources, the accident took place at around 9.30 pm when Rakesh Pradhan of Dhenkanal, was travelling towards Kakata. Despite suffering severe injuries and lying helpless beside the railway tracks in pitch darkness and heavy rain, Pradhan managed to dial the 112 emergency helpline.
After receiving the distress call, the Mancheswar Police and local PCR personnel immediately rushed to the spot. ” Although the area falls under GRP jurisdiction, we immediately dispatched the nearest PCR team. The personnel walked around 3 km along the tracks, rescued the victim and transferred him to Capital Hospital,” a police officer said.
The officer commended the PCR control room and rescue team, adding that their dedication serves as an inspiration for the entire force when performing duty under extreme constraints.
Navigating hazardous conditions along train lines, the police personnel conducted the search using only their mobile phone flashlights [02:34]. “It was pitch dark, raining heavily, and multiple trains were passing by on the tracks. We navigated the rocky track sides using mobile phone flashlights to locate him. Rescuing someone and saving a life gives us immense satisfaction as police officers,” said an on-duty cop.
Pradhan was safely carried off the tracks on a stretcher to a waiting vehicle and rushed to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where he is undergoing medical treatment.
