Corona Fear: Woman Awaits Help For Husband’s Funeral In Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: Perhaps the worst part of COVID-19  has been the ostracisation of the victims, both living and dead and their families by those living in their immediate surroundings.

There have been several cases of victims being denied a decent funeral and survivors being considered untoucables all over the country.

However, in this case, the dead person was not even a Corona positive person. His dead body in Bhadrak village awaits the final goodbye. The residents of Khatanagar village of Jamujhadi panchayat under Simulia police limits have not come anywhere near the grieving family.

The deceased, Sridhar Dalei, had returned from Kolkata on April 30. He was unwell and was taken for treatment to Balasore DHH in an ambulance. He breathed his last during the treatment and his mortal remains were sent back home.

Although Dalei had not been declared Corona positive, people did not come to help his wife for the funeral out of fear.

The deceased is survived by his wife and two minor children.
