Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to see a decline in COVID-19 infection in the next one and a half months.
Speaking to the media, Director of the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) Dr CBK Mohanty on Thursday said that transmission of the deadly virus would gradually slow down. However, people should be cautious and strictly follow all COVID-19 management guidelines, including wearing of masks and maintaining social distancing.
He further informed that 565 patients had undergone plasma therapy in the state and 114 among them have been cured of the infection. The condition of the remaining patients is stated to be stable.
“Odisha’s COVID-19 recovery rate is good as compared to other states. The fatality rate is also less in the state,” he added.
The additional chief secretary of health, Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, had said that model predicted around 1 lakh cases by the end of August with 3,000-odd cases every day. “We are doing around 60,000 tests every day and seeing 3,000-odd positive cases with the positivity rate over the last 7 days remaining below 5. The mortality rate is less than 0.5 per cent, which is lower than the national average. The recovery rate is now 71 per cent, which is slightly lower than the national average. We would catch up soon,” he added.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 tally in Odisha breached 1,13,411 on Thursday (September 3) as the state added 3631 more cases in the last 24 hours. The number includes 84,073 recoveries and 522 fatalities.
