COVID-19 Cases Soar To 80: Parks, Beaches In This Odisha District Closed To Public For 7 Days
Religious Institutions To Be Shut From April 14-21
Berhampur: To contain COVID-19 spread amid the second wave, the Ganjam administration on Tuesday announced that all religious institutions and public places in the district with remain out of bounds for people from April 14 to 21.
“It is hereby ordered that all religious institutions of Ganjam district are closed for public for next seven days from 14.04.2021 to 21.04.2021. During this time, all religious places will be sanitized and sevayats/priests will ensure only daily rituals in religious places,” an order of the District Emergency Operation Centre said.
Similarly, parks, grounds, sea beaches and lake will be closed for seven days from April 14.
The beaches in the district were earlier closed on weekends.
Celebration of Meru Jatra and Pana Sankranti will not be held publicly, the order added.
On Monday, the administration had prohibited the general darshan of Maa Budhi Thakurani at Bada Bazaar here after two priests tested positive for the virus.
The announcement assumes signification again the backdrop of a jump in new COVID-19 cases to 80 in the district in the last 24 hours.
