COVID-19 ‘Explosion’ In Bhubaneswar With Record 248 New Cases; 65 From 2 Slums, 27 Pvt Hospital Staff Infected

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital saw the highest single-day spike of 248 COVID-19 cases, which took the affected tall to 1717 on Friday.

Among them, 207 are quarantine and 41 local contact cases.

Of the quarantine cases, 45 have been detected at Mahisikhal Basti in BJB Nagar area, and another 20 at Sitapur Basti in Nayapalli area. 27 employees of a private hospital have also been infected.

As many as 205 of these cases are linked with previous positive patients. Only three have travel history to Kolkata.

On the other hand, 29 more patients have been cured of the infection in the city.

With 11 deaths and 834 recoveries, Bhubaneswar now has 870 active cases.
