COVID-19: India Now No. 3 In Most Number Of Vaccinations

New Delhi: India has scaled another global peak in its fight against COVID-19 by becoming the third topmost country in terms of the number of vaccine doses administered, the Health and Family Welfare Ministry said on Sunday.

Only the USA and the UK remain ahead of India.

A ministry release said till 8 am on February 7, a total of 57.75 lakh (57,75,322) beneficiaries have received the COVID-19 vaccine across the country. The cumulative vaccination coverage includes 53,04,546 healthcare workers and 4,70,776 frontline workers.

It also informed that 12 states, including Odisha, have vaccinated more than 2 lakh beneficiaries each. Uttar Pradesh led the chart with 6,73,542 vaccinations. In Odisha, 2,75,055 beneficiaries have received the COVID-19 vaccine so far.

The ministry said there has been a sustained increase in the number of beneficiaries being vaccinated every day. In the last 24 hours, 3,58,473 beneficiaries were vaccinated across 8,875 sessions, it added.

In another significant development, the country has reported less than 80 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours, the lowest in nine months.
