COVID-19 Spread: Borriguma Block In Koraput Shut Down For 5 Days

Jeypore: Koraput district administration has shut down Borrigumma block headquarters for five days after a 58-year-old man tested positive for coronavirus.

The man, who serves as a health worker, had returned from Ganjam and come in contact with over 100 persons in Borrigumma and its peripheral areas, sources said.

A woman teacher, who was also in contact with the man, tested COVID-19 positive. Since she was taking private tuition, the health officials had collected swab samples of some of her students. Three students were found corona positive on Wednesday.

The district has so far reported 73 corona positive cases including nine from Borrigumma.

Meanwhile, the district administration has asked the teachers not to take tuition classes while Koraput collector Madhusudan Mishra has requested the parents not to send their children to the tuition classes.

Besides, a CISF jawan of Damanjodi, who had returned from Cuttack and was in quarantine, also tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday.

The administration has declared Jeypore Parabeda and Koraput railway station areas as containment zones.
