COVID Active Cases Drop Below 5K In Odisha; 50% In Khurda

Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload in Odisha dropped below 400 again on Monday as 340 more people, including 50 in the age group of 0-18 years, tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. 

On Sunday, the infection had soared by 25 per cent despite a fall in testing by 20 per cent. The state had seen 443 new cases compared to 358 the previous day. With 55,115 samples against the targetted 70,000 being tested, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.80 per cent.

The TRP for Monday was 0.59 per cent with the positive cases being detected from 57293 samples.

According to the I & PR department, 199 are from quarantine and 141 local contacts. Khurda district registered the highest 149 new infections, followed by Cuttack at 43. There were nil cases in nine districts.

Besides, 36 are from the state pool.

While the affected tally has touched 1035417, Odisha now has 4824 active cases. Khurda is in the yellow zone with 2410 active cases.
