COVID Caseload Drops Below 500 In Odisha; No New Infections In 9 Districts

Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload in Odisha dropped below 500 as 471 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours against 649 on Sunday.

With these cases being detected from 50,782 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.93 per cent. The TPR was 1.07 per cent on Sunday.

According to the I & PR department, 274 of the new infections are from quarantine and 197 local contacts. Khurda district with 196 new cases and Cuttack (81) accounted for 59 per cent of the caseload in the state. Nine districts reported nil cases.

Also, 57 new infections (12 per cent) are in the age group of 0-18 years.

Besides, 44 are from the state pool.

Odisha had reported 649, 630, 745, 771, 762, 638, and 609 new cases on September 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6 respectively. The infection rate among children on those days was 15.87 per cent, 18 per cent, 15.9 per cent, 15 per cent, 13.3 per cent, 14.5 per cent, and 20 per cent, respectively.

Odisha now has 6,548 active cases.
