COVID Spike: Lockdown In Chhattisgarh’s Durg District From April 6-14

Durg: The local administration in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district has announced a complete lockdown from April 6 to 14 because of the sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in the region.

District Collector Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure said it had become necessary to break the chain of coronavirus transmission by imposing a lockdown, reports PTI. He added that public support is needed to check further spread of the virus.

The statement issued by the district administration did not list the activities that will be allowed and restricted during the nine-day period, beginning Tuesday.

The Collector appealed to people to stay indoors and get tested if they come in contact with COVID-infected persons. He also urged those above 45 to get vaccinated at the nearby centres.

On Thursday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel directed district Collectors to take a decision on whether to impose lockdown in their respective region.

Durg recorded 10,295 fresh coronavirus positive cases in the last two weeks and currently has 9,883 active cases.
