New Delhi: A plea has been filed before the Supreme Court seeking monetary compensation of Rs 4 lakh or notified ex-gratia monetary compensation to the families of those who have lost their lives on account of COVID-19 pandemic, Live Law reported.

The petition, filed by advocate Harish SR on behalf of advocate Reepak Pansal, has submitted that Section 12 of Disaster Management Act, 2005, states the National Authority shall recommend guidelines for minimum standards of relief to be provided to persons affected by disaster, which shall include ex-gratia assistance on account of loss of life.
