Cyclone Amphan: BMC Forms Six Teams For Supervision Of Rescue Operation In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has formed six teams to supervise the preparedness for cyclone Amphan at the initial stage and put vehicles and equipment in readiness in all its zones.

The municipal teams are ready for rescue and relief operations in 37 inundation-prone areas in the city, said BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary at an emergency meeting attended by Science and Technology Minister Ashok Chandra Panda. The BMC has 20 pumps and fire brigade has 27 pumps which can be used to drain out rain water, he added.

The Minister told that adequate measures should be taken to restore water and power supply as soon as possible after the cyclone crosses the State.

Bhubaneswar (Centre) Legislator Anant Narayan Jena stressed on safety and security of the people in slums and living besides drainage system. Bhubaneswar (North) MLA Sushant Kumar Raut was also present at the meeting.
