Bhubaneswar: Amid flood situation and severe waterlogging following heavy downpour triggered by cyclone Arnab, holidays in schools and other educational institutions have been extended further in Ganjam and Gajapati districts of Odisha.
According to an order issued by Ganjam Collector, all Anganwadi centres, schools, degree colleges, technical institutions, and university departments functioning within the district will remain closed up to October 31. These two districts have been severely affected by the cyclone.
The order emphasises that all concerned heads of institutions must ensure strict compliance with immediate effect. Copies of the directive have also been forwarded to registrars of universities, principals, and the District Education Officer for necessary action.
Similarly, the administration in neighbouring Gajapati district has extended school holidays for two more days due to incessant rains. Having previously declared closures up to October 29, schools in the district have remained shut following the Durga Puja vacation as adverse weather conditions continue to disrupt normal life.
Parents and students have been advised to stay updated through local administrative announcements as safety measures remain a top priority for the district authorities.
