Cyclone Hamoon Weakens Into Deep Depression; Hot Weather Returns To Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Light rain spell continued at a few places in Odisha on Wednesday even as cyclone Hamoon over coastal Bangladesh weakened into a deep depression and lay centered about 60 km east of Chittagong (Bangladesh) and 160 km south-southeast of Aizawl (Mizoram).
“The system is likely to move northeastwards and weaken further into a depression during next 6 hours and into a well-marked low-pressure area during subsequent 6 hours,” the India Meteorological Department said in its midday bulletin.
While there is no weather warning for Odisha, light rain/thundershower may occur at one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore till 8.30 am on Thursday, the weather agency said.
Dry weather will prevail across the state thereafter with no large change in maximum and minimum temperature during the next 5 days, it added.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into Northeast Bay of Bengal and along and off Bangladesh & north Myanmar coasts till this evening.
