Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported a sharp fall in COVID-19 cases on Sunday with 45 people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. This is the lowest reported during the third wave of the pandemic.
The state had seen 72 and 79 fresh infections on Saturday and Friday respectively, briefly crossing the 100-mark after the daily count hovered around 80 for five days.
According to the I & PR department, 27 of the new cases are from quarantine and 18 local contacts with 8 among them in the 0-18 years age group. These cases have been reported from 16 districts. While only Ganjam has registered infections in double digits and a lone case each has been reported from nine districts.

The test positivity rate for the day stood at 0.11 per cent with these positive cases being detected from 38,498 samples sent for the test.
Odisha now has 627 active cases.
