Dharmendra Pradhan Inaugurates 100-Bed COVID Facility At Bargarh’s Vikash Hospital

Bargarh: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday inaugurated a 100-bed COVID Care Centre with ICU & ventilator facilities at Vikash Multi-Specialty Hospital (VMSH) in Bargarh.

Pradhan inaugurated the facility through video conferencing from New Delhi.

Under the project, 70 ventilators, 50 monitors and 200 syringe pumps are being provided by Indian Oil for establishing the ICU ventilator facilities aimed at treating critical COVID-19 patients in Western Odisha.

Set up under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, in association with Dasari Veer Raju and Gunnam Ram Chandra Rao Memorial Trust, are augmenting the COVID facility at VMSH at a cost of Rs 11.5 crore.

As the second wave of COVID-19 sweeps through the country, Western Odisha is also entering the explosive phase with the test positivity rate (TPR) shooting up.

The Test Positivity Rate (TPR) in some districts of Western Odisha is alarmingly high. The number of patients requiring ICU Ventilators is rising sharply, which has strained existing critical care facilities.

This CSR intervention by IndianOil will further supplement the efforts of the government in providing timely treatment to COVID patients, thereby reducing the mortality rate in the state of Odisha and particularly in Bargarh and surrounding districts in Western Odisha.

Speaking during the inauguration, the Union Minister said “I am hopeful that apart from the government’s initiative, the corporates will definitely come forward for 1+1 vaccination.”

Explaining the 1+1 vaccination, he said while vaccinating their own employees, the corporates will help the needy persons for getting vaccination.”
