Cuttack: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated a new skill development-cum-common facility centre for filigree craftsmen in Cuttack on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Utkal Gaurab Madhusudan Das, on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said, “The skill development centre will impart world-class facilities for skill training and promote the traditional art and crafts of Odisha. Such initiative will go a long way in attracting tourists not only to buy filigree but also other famous products of Cuttack, including Khandua textile, horn and terracotta work.”
Paying floral tributes to Utkal Gaurab Madhusudan Das, Pradhan said, “Madhu Babu was a pioneer and trendsetter. His entrepreneurial skills helped in developing skills and economically empower people in the state.”
On the occasion, the Minister also launched the Urja Ganga Gas Pipeline Skilling Project aimed at imparting formal certification and training to semi-skilled and unskilled workers engaged in Jagdishpur-Haldia and Bokaro-Dharma Natural Gas Pipeline (JHBDPL) project being laid in the state.
Besides, he also launched a Pipe Filter-City Gas Distribution (CGD) course which will commence at the skill development institute in Bhubaneswar.
