Direct Train From Odisha’s Angul To Kolkata Soon, Says Union Minister
Angul/Dhenkanal: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said a new train from Odisha’s Sambalpur city to Kolkata through Dhenkanal, Angul and Talcher railway stations will run soon.
Pradhan said this following a meeting with senior officials of Indian Railways on the ongoing projects in Angul and Dhenkanal districts. He visited the two districts with the officials by travelling in a special bogey of a train from Mancheswar station in Bhubaneswar.
Stating that the Central government has taken up the long-standing demand of the people for a direct train from Angul to Kolkata, he said railway projects worth around Rs 2,500 crore are in progress in Dhenkanal and Angul districts. Besides development of Talcher, Talcher Road, Dhenkanal and Angul railway stations, the projects involve laying of second, third and fourth train tracks in the region, he added.
According to Railway officials, the work on train tracks from Talcher to Angul at a cost of Rs 500 crore would be completed by November and a passenger train and two goods trains would run on the route. The train will run through FCI and Nalco stations, they said.
The Union Minister visited Talcher Road, Talcher, Hindol Road and Sadasivpur railway stations to take stock of the progress of different projects. He also interacted with the train passengers about their problems and sought their suggestions for improvement.
