Mumbai: It’s neither Alia Bhatt nor Karan Johar, but director Vasan Bala who has held himself accountable for the failure of ‘Jigra’.
Sharing his thoughts with Fever FM, Vasan said that it is his responsibility to see that the film performs well at the box-office. He further said that he will surely analyse why ‘Jigra’ tanked at the box-office.
Defending Alia, Vasan said, “She is the first choice for everyone. She could have been on any other film set, but Jigra, during that time. So she has to make that choice. And she has trusted me with that choice. So it is my responsibility to deliver box office, because we are in the business of filmmaking also.”
“So which is why I need to analyse. Kuch toh hua hai na (Something has happened, right)? Something has happened where people have stayed away, something that they have not bought, something that they didn’t feel the need to come to the theatre. If at all any other actor decides to give their time, his or her, then you know, make it worth it,” he added.
On the opening day, ‘Jigra’ minted just Rs 4.55 crore at the domestic box-office. According to Sacnilk.com, so far ‘Jigra’ has managed to earn only Rs 27.30 crore.
Besides box-office failure, actor-producer Divya Khosla has been taking potshots at Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar for making ‘Jigra’ on similar lines as her movie ‘Savi’.
