Bhubaneswar: WhatsApp is renewing its terms of service in 2021 and users need to comply with it or lose access.

Users will have to tap on ‘agree’ for the updated terms and conditions to be rolled out by February 8, 2021.

WABetaInfo shared screenshots showing the new updated policy on how Facebook will host services to store and manage WhatsApp data. If a user doesn’t agree to the changes, he or she can delete their WhatsApp accounts completely.

The new update will have in-app information like updates, announcements, news, but not ads.

Businesses will reportedly be able to store messages on Facebook as well.

“Some businesses will be able to choose WhatsApp’s parent company, Facebook, to securely store messages and respond to customers. While Facebook will not automatically use your messages to inform the ads that you see, businesses will be able to use chats they receive for their marketing purposes, which may include advertising on Facebook,” the leaked FAQ reads.

“WhatsApp Business API user has chosen a third party to manage their endpoint, WhatsApp does not consider these messages end-to-end encrypted. In the future, in 2021, this will also apply to businesses that choose to leverage the cloud-based version of the API hosted by Facebook,” another FAQ reads.
