Bhubaneswar: A doctor was killed in a road accident near Chandrasekharpur petrol pump here on Thursday morning.
According to the reports, Medicine Specialist Dr Basanta Rout was walking towards Jayadev Vihar when a speeding private bus knocked him down and ran over him. He was working in Angul.
Tension prevailed at the accident spot, even as the driver and the helper managed to flee..
The locals also damaged the bus following the death of the doctor.
On getting information, police reached the spot and controlled the situation. The body was sent to the Capital Hospital for postmortem.
On March, 2018, a doctor and a pharmacist were among the three persons killed in a road accident near Bandala under Badachana police limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
The deceased was identified as Paresh Kumar Mohapatra, a doctor of City Hospital in Cuttack, Rajendra Kumar Samant, a pharmacist and the owner of a Patholab in Nua Bazaar area in Cuttack, and Debadutta Biswal, the driver.
All of them are the residents of Mahanadi Vihar area in Cuttack city.
