Bhubaneswar: A 4.6 magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan at 1.26 pm (IST) on Monday, according to National Center for Seismology (NCS).
The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km, with coordinates at 29.12 latitude and 67.26 longitude. No immediate damage or injuries were reported.
This is the fourth earthquake to hit the country this month amid airstrikes at nine terror hubs and eight key airbases by India between May 7-10, in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives.
On May 10, Pakistan experienced two earthquakes that jolted the region. The first was a magnitude 4.0 earthquake that occurred at a shallow depth of 10km, making it susceptible to aftershocks. Later the same day, it experienced a stronger earthquake of magnitude 5.7. Additionally, on May 5, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake jolted Pakistan at 4 pm local time, striking at a depth of 10 km.
A 4.2-magnitude earthquake was also reported in Afghanistan at 12.35 pm IST the same day.
Pakistan is among the most seismically active countries in the world due to its position along the boundary between the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates.
