Bhubaneswar: To ensure smooth travel for pilgrims and visitors from across Odisha and neighbouring states, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has decided to run 365 special trains during Rath Yatra of the Lords of Shree Jagannath Temple
These will be in addition to other regular trains.
These special services will operate from various parts of the state, particularly on major days of the annual festival – Gundicha Yatra, Sandhya Darshan, Bahuda Yatra and Suna Besha, including Rourkela, Biramitrapur, Bangiriposi, Junagarh Road, Badampahar, Boudh, Jagdalpur, Balasore, Angul, Gunupur, Rayagada, Paradip, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Daspalla, Khurda Road, Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Talcher, Cuttack, Brahmapur, Dhenkanal, Barbil and Palasa and Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Gondia (Chhattisgarh) and Santragachi (West Bengal).
“This comprehensive rail connectivity will not only cater to the massive surge of pilgrims during the festival but also significantly ease travel for people in remote and interior districts,” the ECoR release said.
Passengers have advised to check schedules and availability through official railway portals and stay updated via public announcements closer to the festival dates.
Last year, the railways operated 315 special trains for Rath Yatra in Puri.
