Bhubaneswar: Eminent architect Ajay Chandra Ray passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar following a prolonged illness. He was 82.
Ray, who was undergoing treatment in the hospital for the past one-and-a-half months, breathed his last on Thursday, family sources said.
Born on May 2, 1943 in Angul, Dr Ray was a distinguished academician, revered mentor, and a stalwart in the field of Civil Engineering.
Dr Ray completed his Integrated MTech and PhD in Civil Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, in 1978. His illustrious academic career was marked by a deep commitment to knowledge, innovation, and service.
He served with distinction as the Head of the Department of General Engineering at the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (CAET) and as the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology (CET), Bhubaneswar.
During his career, Dr Ray made significant contributions to the fields of Civil Engineering and Agriculture, leaving an indelible mark on students, peers, and the broader academic community.
His legacy will continue to inspire generations of engineers and scholars.
