Mumbai: Actor Emraan Hashmi has been diagnosed with H1N1, commonly known as swine flu, in Mumbai.
The actor, who is currently riding high on the professional front following the success of his latest release ‘Awarapan 2’, has faced a health setback.
Emraan’s diagnosis was confirmed by his representative, who also shared his medical report as proof.
The diagnosis comes amid a reported rise in H1N1 infections in cities such as Mumbai and Delhi during the monsoon season.
According to health experts, the early symptoms of H1N1 can resemble those of seasonal viral fever, including sudden fever, body ache, sore throat, cough, runny nose and fatigue.
In a conversation with HT, Dr Manav Manchanda, director and head of respiratory, critical care and sleep medicine at Asian Hospital, said the intensity and progression of symptoms can help distinguish H1N1 from a routine viral infection.
He noted that persistent fever, breathlessness, chest discomfort, worsening cough, drowsiness or confusion and reduced urine output in children can be warning signs requiring medical attention.
As Emraan recuperates, his film ‘Awarapan 2’ continues to perform strongly at the box office.
The film has reportedly crossed the ₹200-crore mark in theatrical collections.

The film has also received positive reviews for bringing back the flavour of the 2000s crime-thriller genre associated with Vishesh Films.
As per the HT review, the film follows a familiar template of crime, romance and music that defined several of Emraan’s earlier successes, while largely managing to make the formula work.
