Berhampur: Golanthara police have arrested four persons, including an engineering student Silu Nayak (21) of Bhismagiri Village under Digapahandi police limit, in a burglary case.
The other 3 accused are Bikash Bisoyi (23) of Bhismagiri village under Digapahandi police limits, Kalia Behera (21) of Bichhapata village under Patapur police limits and Saras Kumar Nayak (32) of Borosingi village under Kabi Surya Nagar police limits, who was also the receiver of the stolen gold ornaments.
According to police sources, one Surya Narayana Achary (48) had lodged a complaint, pertaining to theft of gold, silver ornaments and cash from his house at Ralaba Road under Golanthara police limits on December 18 night.
“The investigation led to the four and further revealed that the accused were also involved in such thefts in different areas of the district,” said Berhampur SP Dr Saravana Vibek M.
Besides apprehending the four, police seized Rs 1.40 lakh in cash, gold ornaments weighing 56 grams that were pledged at banks, four mobile handsets of the accused persons. An inverter battery, an inverter machine, 3 desktop computers with CPU, 2 UPS, one water cooler, 2 colour printers, one water filter, one black colour TVS NTIRQ Scooty, digital weighing machine, different house breaking equipment, a iron rod and documents in support of pledging of the gold ornaments at SBI, Balipada Branch and Muthoot finance company office, Digapahandi, were also recovered.
