Ensure Piped Water Supply To 50% Households In Jharsuguda By Year-End, Odisha Chief Secy Tells Officials

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra on Saturday directed Jharsuguda district administration to complete piped water supply to at least 50% of the families living in both rural and urban areas by end of December.

The chief secretary issued the direction while reviewing the field level progress of various developmental projects during a visit to the district on the day. During a discussion with district and field level officials of different departments, he set timelines for various phases of works of each project.

Mahapatra set timelines for completion of remaining works of cardiac care hospital at Jharsuguda. At present, the construction of the hospital is at final stage of completion. Target was set to operationalise the hospital in about six months by selecting an appropriate hospital manager.

During a review of 11 mega lift irrigation projects under construction in different places of the district, the chief secretary directed to upgrade the existing power sub-stations and install new sub-stations for ensuring reliable power supply to mega lift irrigation projects.

Further, he told field level officials of Agriculture and Horticulture departments to motivate the farmers for crop diversification. He asked them to be in direct touch with the farmers, give necessary advisories, agricultural input, technical know-how, and guide them when they need it.

The field level officers of revenue and disaster management were directed to complete land survey and settlement of the dam affected families living in fringe areas of Hirakud reservoir. The industrial units were also directed to comply all the pollution norms strictly.

Mahapatra also visited the project sites of Cardiac Care hospital at Jharsuguda, water treatment plant at H Katapali, mega lift irrigation project at Banjhiborah in H Katapali panchayat and OPGC plant at Banharpali.

During his visit, he inaugurated the Samanwya Bhawan of OCPL at Jamkani in Sundargarh district.

Jharsuguda Collector Saroj Kumar Samal, Sundargarh Collector Gavali Harsad Parag, Chief Executive, Zilla Parishad, Jharsuguda Tapiram Majhi, Chief Executive Officer of OCPL Sariputta Mishra along with senior officers of different departments presented necessary data during the chief secretary’s visit.
