Eye Donation: Odisha’s Finest Villain Raimohan Parida Continues To Inspire Even In Death

Bhubaneswar: His heavy-lidded eyes, sideways smile and that sheer look of seeing and knowing more than you did strike fear in many hearts. Even in his death, the most-loved villain of Odisha, Raimohan Parida, has inspired his fans to take up a noble cause of eye donation.

His family has donated his eyes to ‘Drusti Daan Eye Bank’. “We convinced the family members to donate his eyes and they agreed,” informed an eye donation technician of LV Prasad Eye Institute.

The mortal remains of the veteran actor and theatre artiste were consigned to flames at Swargadwara in Puri on Friday. He was found dead at his residence in Prachi Vihar area of Bhubaneswar earlier in the day.  It is being suspected that he ended his life by hanging himself.

The 58-year-old actor’s latest film ‘Biswanath’ had hit the theatres on June 10 and he recently finished dubbing for his last film ‘Om Swaha’ which is being directed by Dileep Panda.

Raimohan acted in over 90 Odia and 15 Bengali movies and also in Jatras and theatre plays. The only movie where he essayed a positive character was Mishra’s ‘Sata Micha’ (2003) in which he played the role of the heroine’s brother. This film also got him the Special Jury Award, his only State film award.
