Bhubaneswar: A Fabrication Lab, designed to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, has been set up at the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), faculty of engineering and technology of the SOA Deemed to be University.
“This is an endeavour to foster curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds and inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking and adaptive learning,” Prof. Renu Sharma, Head of the Department, Electrical Engineering at ITER, said.
The new facility, named SOA Fabrication Lab (SFL) powered by Karkhana Makerspace, will be available to all the students of SOA Deemed to be University who will receive guidance in entrepreneurship, skill development and patent, she said adding the facility had been thrown open to the students of the university recently.
SFL will conduct the Industrial Training programme in collaboration with semiconductor Industries companies like Microchip Technology, Cypress Semiconductor and ARM, Prof. Sharma said, adding it would help develop network with industries, academia and civil society for knowledge sharing and mentoring support.
It will also conduct activities like regional and national level competitions, exhibitions, lecture series and faculty development programmes.
