The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) was quick to slam the Governor, calling him a megalomaniac.
“Post independence India never seen such preposterous event. One person appointed to a constitutional post is acting like a Roman Emperor. Megalomaniac,” Trinamool spokesperson Jayprakash Majumder said in his post on X.
CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakraborty also criticised Bose for unveiling his own statue.
The Governor’s office, however, denied that he had unveiled his statue, saying that it was presented to Bose by a sculptor.
“Many artists submit their artistic creations to HG. Many painters made HG’s portraits and presented to him. Similarly, a creative sculptor had created a sculpture of HG and presented to HG. This has unfortunately been described as ‘unveiling his own statue’,” Raj Bhawan’s media cell said in post on X.
In some media reports it has come out that HG has ‘unveiled his own statue’ at Raj Bhavan on 23.11.2024.
