Farmers Are Being Misinformed Intentionally, Claims Union Minister Shekhawat

Alleges That West Bengal CM Mamata Is Trying To Become Part Of Farmers’ Protest Just To Attract Attention

Kolkata: Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Monday said some people are purposely provoking the farmers by providing them wrong information and that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is depriving farmers of the state by not giving them financial assistance provided by the Centre.

“A section of farmers are protesting due to wrong information given to them by some people intentionally. These people purposely want to spread unnecessary chaos in the country. If the farm laws are so harmful, why aren’t farmers from other states joining the protest?” Shekhawat argued.

“Farmers of West Bengal also haven’t joined the protest despite being deprived by TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee. Prime Minister Narendra Modi sends Rs 6000 every month for the farmers but Mamata didi hasn’t allowed it to reach the poor people and is depriving 75 lakh farmers in the state… she is trying to become a part of the farmers’ protest just to attract attention,” claimed the Union minister.

Shekhawat alleged that the ruling TMC government has “institutionalized corruption and violence” in the state.

“Before coming to power, Mamata Banerjee said that the people will get a corruption and tension- state. But the reality is just the opposite. Every corner of West Bengal witnesses violence every day,” he said.

BJP calls North Bengal strike for police atrocity:

Referring to Monday’s violence at Siliguri in North Bengal over BJP’s Uttarkanya Abhiyaan, Shekhawat said political murders and police atrocities have become common in the state. He went on to accuse TMC leaders and activists of killing BJP cadres every day.

The saffron camp has also called for a 12-hour North Bengal strike over “barbaric act” of the police.

“To break saffron camp’s Uttarkanya Abhiyaan, police had resorted to lathi charge and TMC goons had hurled bombs on the BJP cadres. The Chief Minister instead of developing the state is resorting to violence. In the last nine years the condition of Bengal has deteriorated,” said Shekhawat.

He said that more than 80 per cent of Central schemes are not being implemented in Bengal. “The Central government has given 1000 crore to establish new water connections in the state and additional 1300 crore to make the water arsenic free. These were the first instalments and three more instalments were also promised. Despites Centre’s support, Mamata didi didn’t do any development in the state,” he signed off.
