Bhubaneswar: Central University of Odisha (CUO) in collaboration with Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) on Thursday kick-started the two-week-long workshop on film-based skill courses for students of Scheduled Tribe (ST) category at its Koraput campus.
Being organised under the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav Programme, the workshop has been designed based on four basic skill development programmes including basic course in screen acting, basic course in screenplay writing, film appreciation course and basic course in smartphone filmmaking. Professors from FTII Pune will visit the campus to provide specialised training to the students.
Inaugurating the workshop, CUO Vice Chancellor Prof. Chakradhar Tripathy said through these courses, the students will not only be able to learn but also train and empower others. He hoped that the university’s mission of development of local tribals would be fulfilled through the workshop.
“Through filmmaking, the tribals can speak on their problems and that will lead to their empowerment,” he said.
The workshop will continue till February 23. Students from ST category can avail it free of cost.
