Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to conduct food quality inspection in various hotels and restaurants during Rath Yatra festival of Lord Jagannath. As many as six food inspectors will be deployed for this purpose, informed Puri collector Arvind Agrawal.
Following a preparatory meeting chaired by health minister Pratap Jena at state secretariat here on Tuesday, the collector said, “A food testing mobile van will be introduced to conduct food quality tests and common hygienic practices in the town. The van will also educate the people on different aspects of food safety.”
At the meeting, the minister directed the officials concerned to ensure uninterrupted services including electricity, drinking water supply and effective security arrangements for devotees, especially tourists, during the festival.
The meeting also highlighted that a special team has been constituted to take stock of the healthcare issues in Puri and sort out the same at the earliest.
Among others, revenue minister Maheswar Mohanty and senior officials from Puri district administration were present on the occasion.
