Mumbai: An alleged case of black magic has surfaced in Maharashtra’s Thane district, with the daughter-in-law of a former Shiv Sena (UBT) MP levelling serious accusations.
In a police complaint, Girija Raut alleged that her husband and in-laws forced her to drink cow urine, made her visit self-styled godmen and plucked strands of her hair for black magic rituals.
Girija named Sena (Uddhav) leader Vinayak Raut, husband Gitesh Raut, and self-styled godmen Firoz Baba and Kazi Baba two occultists in her complaint.
Kapurbawdi Police Station in Thane have registered an FIR under Maharashtra’s Anti-Superstition Act.
According to Girija’s complaint, after her marriage in 2017, she was allegedly subjected to occult rituals in the name of helping the couple conceive. Besides forcing her to consume cow urine, she was made to pull out her hair using a live chicken, wires and specially-prepared drinks, Girija alleged.
Several self-styled godmen were brought into the house, and she was also made to consume various tablets and medicines. “The pressure I faced was more mental than physical, and I was unable to live a normal life,” she stated.
Girija claimed she and her husband have not had physical relations since 2018. She was repeatedly told the couple will plan for a child after Ganpati, only for occult rituals to begin instead.
She apparently endured the ordeal for several because of the family’s political background, and also hoping that the situation will ultimately.
Dismissing Girija’s allegations, the Sena (Uddhav) leader linked them to an ongoing alimony dispute between his son and daughter-in-law.
The former MP alleged that Girija had demanded a 3BHK terrace flat worth around Rs 5 crore and a monthly alimony of Rs 2 lakh, but the family rejected her demands.
Girija retorted: “I lived there for seven years, but I never committed any act as alleged against me. If my intention had been to extort money from the family, I could have done so much earlier. Why would I do it now?”
Firoz Baba, one of the self-styled godmen named in the FIR, has been arrested.
The allegations are under investigation.
