Patna: A special court in Bihar’s Begusarai on Saturday sentenced former state social welfare minister Manju Verma and her husband Chandrashekhar Verma to a seven-year jail term. They were jailed in connection to a case involving recovery of a large cache of illegally stored weapons. These were recovered from properties linked to the former minister in 2018.
They were also fined Rs 50,000 each, according to public prosecutor Ram Prakash Yadav.

Verma, then a Janata Dal (United) MLA, was linked to the Muzaffarpur shelter home case in 2018, reported HT. The CBI had raided Verma’s homes in Sripur Arjun Tola and Khanjhapur village. During the raids, a rifle, along with other arms and ammunition were found.
