Former Indian Cricketer VVS Laxman Heaps Praise On Odisha Bookbinder For Selfless Services

New Delhi: Cricket legend VVS Laxman has showered praises on Cuttack’s bookbinder Abhimanyu Das for his selfless service to the downtrodden and cancer patients besides giving dignity to the dead.

The 50-year-old Odisha man has been in news for giving dignity to the dead, cremating unclaimed and unattended bodies. His work has drawn the attention of the cricket legend.

Earlier, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif had praised Abhimanyu for his noble deeds.

Laxman has been keenly observing people working for the welfare  and uplift of the poor and needy and had praised a fruit vendor, a woman farmers and a rag picker for their noble deeds.

Praising a fruit vendor Harekala Hajabba, the mentor of SunRisers had written – He (Hajabba) saved every rupee he earned towards building a proper school. Today his school has more than 150 students from low income families and doing well . That one incident inspired him to do this Seva. He was conferred with the Padma Shri last year. Hats off to his selfless service;

The generous act of a woman farmer from Bhadrak has won the heart of former Indian batsman in 2020.

Chhayarani Sahu, a farmer of Bhadrak district, had distributed her vegetable produces voluntarily among the needy in the locality and nearby areas. He wrote:

In 2019, he made a rag picker popular with his tweet on him. The former cricketer appreciated the noble initiatives of Kamala Lochan Baliasingh for feeding stray dogs everyday despite his own misery.

Kamala Lochan Baliarsingh, who collects waste materials from several places in the state capital and toils hard to get food for his own, makes sure that stray dogs he comes across are well-fed. The man, who himself is living a vagabond life, has turned out to be a savior for stray dogs in Bhubaneswar.
