Mumbai: Former Miss World Yukta Mookhey has said that Priyanka Chopra was her ‘junior’ and there is nothing to appreciate about her.
Yukta also hinted that global icon Priyanka saw her as a competition and used to seek her advice while preparing for the beauty pageant.
Asked what she likes about Priyanka, Yukta said, “nothing” , in an interview with Filmymantra Media.
She further explained, “No. Because she is junior to me. She was the one taking advice from me. Because she was in the following year after me. I personally feel that there were things that I guided her for, and her parents were sort of wanting to talk to my parents. I don’t think she is the right person for you to ask me at this moment.”
She went on, “I remember Juhi Chawla spoke to me after I won and came back and she spoke to me very kindly. She said you are so beautiful and so tall, you carry yourself so well, think about going international. So those are the kind of people I am talking about, who don’t look at you as competition. They don’t look at you as a threat. They look at you as someone who is a junior, or like ‘I might be able to teach them something’, and that requires a lot of greatness. Sirf Miss India ya Miss World title milne se cheezen nahi hoti (Just winning the title of Miss India or Miss World doesn’t make everything happen).”
After Yukta and Priyanka won the Miss World title in 1999 and 2000, respectively, their Bollywood careers took different turns.
Yukta appeared in a handful of films like ‘Pyaasa’, ‘Katputtli’, and ‘Memsahab’, which failed to impress the audience.
Priyanka, on the other hand, managed to become a global icon by winning over fans in both Bollywood and Hollywood.
At present, she is awaiting the release of her Hollywood new project Top of FormBottom of Form’Heads of State’, which also features John Cena and Idris Elba.
