Bhubaneswar/Balasore: Four persons were arrested and brown sugar worth Rs 40 lakh was seized during raids across Balasore and Khurda districts in Odisha, police said on Tuesday.
Following a tip-off, a joint police and excise team raided Bhograi Jagannathpur Chhak in Balasore late Monday night and seized 145 grams of brown sugar valued at Rs 15 lakh and Rs 5,500 in cash. Two suspects were also arrested during the raid.

In a separate raid in Khurda’s Chhannagiri Chhak under Jankia police limits, police intercepted two drug peddlers, aged 20 and 22, travelling on a motorcycle on Monday morning and seized 258 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 25 lakh from them, Khurda SP Sagarika Nath informed.
