Four Odia Bravehearts To Get National Bravery Award

Bhubaneswar: Four bravehearts from Odisha will be conferred with the National Bravery Award-2018 on Republic Day in New Delhi.

The award, instituted by the Indian Council for Child Welfare, will be given away by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The four brave boys and girls are Situ Mallick (15) of Rajnagar in Kendrapara district, Jhili Bag of Tarabha in Sonepur district, Ranjita Majhi of Nakarundi in Kalahandi district and Biswajit Puhana of Ichhapur village under Balikuda block in Jagatsinghpur district.

Situ, who displayed exemplary courage in saving his uncle from the jaws of a crocodile, will get the Bapu Gaidhani Award.

Jhili saved the life of her younger sister by diving 25 feet into a well while Ranjita shot into limelight for resisting the marriage his parents had proposed.

Besides, Biswajit had saved the life of a minor girl while she was being swept away in a canal near his village.
