Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 8,220 on Monday with six more deaths being confirmed in the last 24 hours.
According to Health Department sources, five deaths have been reported from Khurda (including four from Bhubaneswar) and one from Cuttack district.

Here are the details of the deceased after an audit:
- A 63 years old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
- A 63 years old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension.
- A 55 years old male of Bhubaneswar.
- A 51 years old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.
- A 48 years old male of Cuttack district.
- A 68 years old Male of Khurda district who was also suffering from Suspected Lung Cancer under Evaluation, Old Cerebro Vascular Hypothyroidism, Diabetes Mellitus.
Notably, Odisha has reported 6,336 COVID deaths during the second wave against 1,876 previous year.
There were 346 COVID deaths in the state in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in Health Department.
The second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 40 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
