Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s corona tally touched 1189 on Friday with 83 news cases being detected in the last 24 hours.
Of 86 cases, 46 are in Jajpur district, 11 in Cuttack, 6 in Nayagarh, 5 in Ganjam, 3 each in Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Khurda and Puri, 2 in Balangir and 1 in Sundargarh districts.
Four UAE returnees have tested positive for the virus in Jajpur while 37 have travel history to West Bengal, two to Tamil Nadu and one each to Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Haryana, the I & PR department said in a tweet.
One local has tested corona positive in Cuttack, while among the other 10, four are West Bengal returnees, three from Gujarat, two from Telangana and one from Tamil Nadu.
All 5 cases in Balasore have been detected in quarantine centres (4 Maharashtra and one Telangana returnees).
Similarly, six Surat returnees in Nayagarh and three West Bengal returnees in Keonjhar have tested positive.
Among the three cases in Puri, one patient had recently returned from Gujarat and two from West Bengal.
Two Surat returnees and as many locals have tested positive in Ganjam. The remaining one is a Tamil Nadu returnee.
A Maharashtra returnee in a quarantine centre was found to have contracted the virus in Khurda, while the other two are locals. The three cases in Bhadrak are Maharashtra returnees.
The lone new case in Sundargarh is a local case in a containment area, the tweet added.
