Mumbai: Actor Taapsee Pannu has expressed her willingness to move past her long-standing public feud with Kangana Ranaut, suggesting that “someone must have benefitted” from their fight.
Reflecting on their much-publicised fallout, Taapsee said on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast: “I don’t know when I ever fought. A fight happens when two people clash. I never clashed. You tell me — have I ever said even a single line against her? Her sister called me a ‘cheap copy.’ She said that since I don’t earn as much money here, that makes me cheap. If she is such a brilliant actress, I have no problem being called her copy. You can take out any statement of mine — I haven’t said anything against her.”
Taapsee, who is busy promoting her latest film ‘Assi’, was referring to a remark made by Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel years ago. That comment is believed to have led to strained relations between the two actors.
Despite the alleged rivalry, neither Taapsee nor Kangana has directly confronted each other on a public platform.
Asked whether she believes that their clash may have indirectly benefited someone, Taapsee responded thoughtfully, “I don’t know about them, but someone or the other must have benefited in some way. From my side, there was never any fight. But yes, I do feel someone must have gained from it.”
Taapsee’s recent release ‘Assi’, a courtroom drama directed by Anubhav Sinha, also features Kani Kusruti in a leading role.
The film has received positive reviews, with fans praising the performances of both actors.
Kangana was last seen in the 2025 political thriller ‘Emergency’, where she portrayed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The actress will next be seen in ‘Bharatha Bhhagya Vidhata’, a political drama, scheduled for release later this year.
