G Udayagiri Continues To Shiver At 4.6°C; 16 Places In Odisha Record Temp Below 10°C; Dense Fog At 3 Places
Bhubaneswar: A day after recording season’s lowest of 4 degree Celsius, G Udayagiri in Kandhamal continued to be the coldest place in Odisha, reeling under severe cold wave, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed on Friday.
The mercury plummeted below 10 degree Celsius at 16 places in the state.
G Udayagiri (Kandhamal): 4.6 degree Celsius
Semiliguda (Koraput): 5.6 degree Celsius
Phulbani (Kandhamal): 6 degree Celsius
Kirei (Sudargarh): 7.1 degree Celsius
Koraput: 7.7 degree Celsius
Keonjhar: 7.8 degree Celsius
Daringbadi: 8 degree Celsius
Angul: 8.6 degree Celsius
Bhawanipatna: 8.6 degree Celsius
Rourkela: 8.7 degree Celsius
Sundargarh: 9 degree Celsius
Nabarangpur: 9 degree Celsius
Sonepur: 9.3 degree Celsius
Jharsuguda: 9.4 degree Celsius
Ranital (Bhadrak): 9.4 degree Celsius
Chipilima (Sambalpur): 9.8 degree Celsius
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 13.4 and 13.2 degree Celsius, respectively.
The temperature dropped to 5 degrees below normal in Koraput, 4.6 degrees below normal in Angul, 2.7 degrees below normal in Jharsuguda, 2.3 degrees below normal in Bhawanipatna, and 1.2 degrees below normal in Bhubaneswar.
Dense fog also engulfed Koraput, Phulbani and Rourkela, restricting visibility to 50 metres, this morning. Bhawanipatna and Keonjhar also witnessed shallow to moderate fog.
The weather agency has also issued dense fog warning for one or two places in Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri and nine other districts on Friday night and Saturday morning. Similarly, dense fog is expected at one or two places in Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh and 14 other districts on Saturday night and Sunday morning. This is being attributed to availability of moisture due to flow of easterly winds at a lower level.
The Met further forecast a gradually increase in the night temperature by 2-3 degree from Sunday onwards due to the presence of moisture.
