Mumbai: Ektaa Kapoor’s popular sitcom ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2’, starring Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay in lead roles, is set to take a significant turn with a 6-year leap, promising fresh narratives and surprising twists.
Talking about the transition, producer Ekta said, “As a storyteller, for me, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi has always meant exploring relationships as they grow, fracture, and transform with time. When I thought about bringing this leap into the narrative, the intention was never to close chapters, but to allow the story to breathe and evolve with its characters. I wanted to reflect the realities of long-term relationships—how love changes shape, how misunderstandings leave scars, and how emotional distance can quietly enter lives.”
Revealing that the development took him by surprise and demanded intense emotional depth as a performer, lead actor Amar said, “When I found out about the leap, it genuinely shocked me, and I can say that the upcoming episodes are going to be very interesting. This phase has been one of the most challenging parts of playing Mihir, because once again he ends up betraying Tulsi’s love and trust.”
Highlighting how Mihir becomes the source of pain for the person who loves him unconditionally, he added, “Tulsi loves Mihir with complete honesty and depth, and yet Mihir becomes the person who hurts her the most.”
Lucky Mehta aka Suchitra shared, “What excites me most is that just like the viewers, I’m also discovering how Suchu is going to shape up in the upcoming leap. That uncertainty pushes me to explore deeper emotions and stronger nuances.”
Hoping that the leap will allow her character to grow organically, she added, “I believe she is going to grow with time, and audiences will surely get to see different shades of her i.e., emotional, practical, and grounded in realism. This phase can allow me to evolve along with the character, making the journey even more special.”
