Gaisilet Police Station IIC Arrested By Odisha Vigilance For Amassing Assets 179% Disproportionate To Income
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested Birabar Bhagat, IIC of Gaisilet police station in Bargah district for allegedly amassing huge assets which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.
After conducting simultaneous searches at four locations since Monday, the Vigilance sleuths unearthed huge wealth amassed by the IIC which were disportionate to the tune of 179 per cent of his known sources of income, a vigilance release said. The IIC was unable to account for the properties,
During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets were unearthed in the name of Bhagat and his family members;
- A double storeyed building located at Anguliapada in Sambalpur worth over Rs 77 lakh
- A farm house with boundary wall with trees planted on the land vide Khata No.198/31, Mauza-Kabarapali, Sambalpur worth about Rs 21 lakh.
3. Lands in Sambalpur town and Bonei, Sundargarh worth over Rs.1.11 crore.
4. Bank, Insurance deposits and investment in debentures worth approx Rs.16.68 lakhs.
5. Gold jewellery approx 166 grams
6. Cash Rs.79,460/-.
7. 2 four wheelers worth Rs.13.65 lakhs.
8. 2 two wheelers & household articles worth over Rs.9.41 lakhs.
After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Bhagat were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which is 179% higher than his known sources of income. Investigation of the case is in progress
