Ganjam Admn Puts Up CCTV Cameras At Entry Points To Combat COVID-19

Berhampur: To contain the spread of COVID-19, the Ganjam district administration on Thursday decided to install CCTV cameras and deploy magistrates at all the entry points to the district.

Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said all vehicles entering the district will be thoroughly checked. If any goods carrier is found carrying passengers, the driver will be arrested and the vehicle seized, he said.

The collector also directed all employees not to leave the headquarters. They will be arrested under the Epidemic Diseases Act for any dereliction of duty during the lockdown period, he added.

In addition, no person from other areas will be allowed to sell masks and other essential items in the district.

The administration has also directed the traders not sell essential items to consumers who visit their shops without wearing a mask.

Meanwhile, police on Thursday collected Rs 1.17 lakh fine from people across the district for not wearing the mask despite the directive of the state government.
