Gautam Gambhir Found Guilty Of Hoarding Fabiflu; HC Tells Drug Controller To Take Action

New Delhi: Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir has been found guilty of hoarding Fabiflu and giving it to COVID-19 patients, the drug controller body of Delhi told Delhi high court on Thursday.

Advocate Nandita Rao, who appeared for the drug controller, said Gautam Gambhir Foundation had committed an offence under Drugs and Cosmetics Act for stocking medicines in an unauthorised manner.

Rao informed the bench that it was discovered during inquiry that Gautam Gambhir Foundation had purchased over 2000 strips despite holding no valid licence.

The BJP MP apart, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Praveen Kumar was also found guilty under the same act.

“We want you to take action against these violations in terms of your report so that an example is set,” the court said, and also directed the drug controller to file a status report before the next hearing on July 29.

The high court had earlier pulled up the drug controller for giving Gambhir and Kumar a clean chit based on Delhi Police’s report and asked them to carry out an independent probe.

One Deepak Kumar had filed a PIL, seeking an FIR against Gambhir and others involved in hoarding drugs and oxygen.
